Hi Guys
Thank you very much. As it turns out with all the diagnostics, it is a de-mylenating of my spinal cord and nerves. Fortunately, there isn't any brain involvement, however like MS, the neurologists think that it is autoimmune in origin. I had been scheduled to receive my first treatment that was to require hospitalization for 4 days due to the side effects of the medication, but the insurance company railroaded me and the Friday before the Monday that I was to go in, denied the admission. They stated that the treatment wasn't within the label of the product for this condition. That of course is because thus far, their are so few diagnosed with the disease it isn't in the financial best interest of the drug companies to do all the research necessary for the FDA to approve it as an indication. That would cost a tremendous amount of cash on the drug companies. Right now, I am filing an appeal above the medical director of the insurance company that did the initial denial with research data on the disease and anecdotal evidence from case studies that it works. We shall see about the outcome.
Thank you both for your thoughts replying after all this time. Sometimes you think things go into a dark hole on websites.
Thanks again,
OMB
