Default Multiple Sclerosis

Hey Guys
Something shitty is going on and I was wanting to see if any of you have any experiences that you feel that you can share. As a medical provider, I know the diagnostic and treatment paradigms but I need some real world insights even if you have to lie to me. It looks as though I may have MS (episodic). I was wondering if you have had any buddies in the BB world that have had to go through this and been able to maintain the lifestyle, etc...

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

WOW! Kind of left us hanging here about the MS. I'm surprised no one has anything to share. The only person I know with MS is that guy that has a talk show on TV. Montel Williams. He works out and looks fantastic. He has been diagnost with it for like 20 years now. How are you doing? Did you get a definite diagnosis of MS? This is my first day here on this site and read many of your threads and then I come to this one and like to see how are things. Good luck to you.

Hi Guys
Thank you very much. As it turns out with all the diagnostics, it is a de-mylenating of my spinal cord and nerves. Fortunately, there isn't any brain involvement, however like MS, the neurologists think that it is autoimmune in origin. I had been scheduled to receive my first treatment that was to require hospitalization for 4 days due to the side effects of the medication, but the insurance company railroaded me and the Friday before the Monday that I was to go in, denied the admission. They stated that the treatment wasn't within the label of the product for this condition. That of course is because thus far, their are so few diagnosed with the disease it isn't in the financial best interest of the drug companies to do all the research necessary for the FDA to approve it as an indication. That would cost a tremendous amount of cash on the drug companies. Right now, I am filing an appeal above the medical director of the insurance company that did the initial denial with research data on the disease and anecdotal evidence from case studies that it works. We shall see about the outcome.

Thank you both for your thoughts replying after all this time. Sometimes you think things go into a dark hole on websites.

Thanks again,
OMB

Sorry to hear it bro. It is the most confusing and neurologically dominating problem out there. And it is intermittent as a classic definition. Keep your strength up bro. Peace be with you.

JD
Thank you for your wishes. I keep plugging along and hitting the gym as well. Interesting is that people look at you and have no clue that you can be dealing with this based on appearance. It is a good lesson.

Thanks PJ

Some days are difficult but I manage. The family and dogs keep laughing and buddies keep me honest at the gym. Work is fine and supportive as well. I am thankful everyday as there are way too many people out there worse off and without support.

This prognosis is slow in terms of progression. It is weird however to be pushing the leg press and not have feeling in the legs. On the plus side, I am 3 years now post colorectal cancer. What is the saying "when life presents you with lemons, make lemonade", well it is true. Faith is the foundation.

Thank you again for your encouraging words. Please let me know if their is anything I can do for you.

Peace,
OMB

Hey bro, all I can offer you are my prayers. Let's pray the insurance company releases the funds for treatment and pray the treatment works for you.

Keep us posted.
